Donors may be eligible for tax deduction

Have any vehicles collecting dust in your garage? A boat that has not been used in more than a decade? An ATV that no longer runs? VFW is accepting unwanted vehicles to help support those who have served our nation.
Through the partnership of the VFW Foundation, the official 501(c)(3) charity of VFW, and the Charitable Adult Rides and Services (CARS) organization, more than 250 vehicles are collected each year, generating $242,000 in revenue for services that provided urgent assistance to veterans, active-duty service members and their families.“The VFW Foundation makes it easy to turn an unwanted vehicle into meaningful support for veterans,” said VFW Director of Donor Relations Richard Freiburghouse. “Donors can contribute vehicles from virtually anywhere in the United States through our partnership with CARS.”
Any kind of unwanted vehicle is eligible for donation.
“We accept much more than just cars,” Freiburghouse said. “Donations include trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats and many other types of vehicles.”
VFW is accepting vehicles in any condition.
“After pickup, each vehicle is evaluated for drivability,” said Freiburghouse. “When practical, CARS may make repairs before selling the vehicle. If repairs aren’t feasible, the vehicle is sold for scrap, ensuring that even non-running vehicles still generate value to support VFW Foundation’s mission.”
Depending on your individual tax situation, you may be eligible for a tax deduction.
“For many donors, vehicle donation is an easy way to clear space by getting rid of an old vehicle they no longer need,” said Freiburghouse. “In return, they gain the satisfaction of knowing their generosity is helping those who served our nation.”
