HELP-A-HERO SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships that help veterans and service members earn the degree or trade credential they are working toward.
A DECADE OF FUNDING VETERAN EDUCATION.
The Sport Clips Help-A-Hero Scholarship launched in 2013 to help qualifying veterans and service members pay for higher education. It is run by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in collaboration with Sport Clips and Student Veterans of America (SVA), with the VFW Foundation as the funding and stewardship entity. Since 2013, it has awarded $16M+ and more than 3,500 scholarships.
BUILT FOR VETERANS HEADED BACK TO SCHOOL.
Qualifying veterans and service members pursuing a post-secondary degree or trade school education can apply. The scholarship supports the path you choose, whether that is a university classroom or a certification program. If you are serving or have served and you are ready for the next chapter, this scholarship is built for you.
UP TO $5,000 PER SCHOLARSHIP.
Each scholarship provides up to $5,000 toward tuition and the costs of earning a post-secondary or trade school credential.
Through the “Tommy Boy” continuation policy, recipients can keep receiving the Sport Clips Help-A-Hero Scholarship for as long as they remain enrolled. Funding follows you through your program, not just your first year, so you can finish what you started without reapplying from scratch each time.

FUNDED BY SPORT CLIPS CLIENTS.
Each year, Sport Clips runs an in-store campaign from October 5 to November 15, raising funds through customer round-ups at checkout and contributions from suppliers including Paul Mitchell and Gibbs. More than 80% of the funds raised come directly from Sport Clips clients, turning everyday haircuts into scholarships. If you have ever rounded up your total at a Sport Clips, you helped make these scholarships possible. The VFW Foundation stewards those funds and directs them to recipients.
