BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — If you’re planning to get a haircut this week, you could also be giving back at one local salon.

The Poland Sports Clips is trying to raise $6,000 this week for the Help a Hero Scholarship program. The money goes directly to service members who are going back to school with additional support.

They receive a $5,000 scholarship during their transition period to go to college or to receive a technical education.

“We are donating a dollar from each haircut to the foundation. So, as many clients as we get in this week, that’s more donations. But then we also have some fun giveaways and stuff like that for clients and everything like that, and some fun activities going on all throughout the week,” store manager Haley Gottschalk said. “Our clients mean a lot to us and also our veterans and everything. So we’re just excited to be able to give back.”
