PROGRAM:

NATIONAL VETERANS SERVICE (NVS)

Guidance Helps Our Heroes Navigate the VA Claims Process

As the largest organization of combat veterans, our duty is to clear the way for those transitioning out of the military or filing a claim with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The claims process can be complex and confusing, and service members and veterans shouldn’t navigate it alone.

That’s why the VFW’s National Veterans Service (NVS) was established—to provide expert assistance to all veterans, service members, their families, and survivors, completely free of charge.

Why Donate to the National Veterans Service?

Many veterans are unaware they are owed money and benefits. Those who know often struggle with how to get them. The NVS’s professionals help veterans cut through red tape to find and get the money and benefits they earned. It’s a free service established to fight the unscrupulous companies out there charging fees and requiring contracts.

In fiscal year 2022 alone, the VFW recouped more than $13 billion in compensation and pension benefits for veterans and their families—no strings attached.

Every $1 Donated Translates to $1,585 For Veterans

Support the Return the Favor Campaign

Help veterans and their families get the money that is owed to them and put it right in their pockets. The Return the Favor campaign in partnership with country singing legend, John Rich, increases awareness among veterans of what they’re due and fights the “sharks” that charge fees for helping veterans get what is rightfully theirs.

Every dollar donated to Return the Favor turns into $1,585 on average back to our veterans in owed benefits—no fees, no strings attached.

Pre-Discharge Representatives guide military personnel through:

  • The VA claims process
  • Preparing and submitting forms and evidence to VA prior to separation from active duty
  • Questions about VA benefits and entitlements

Pre-Discharge offices are located on or near major military installations across the country. If you are within 180 days of discharge, you can contact a VFW Pre-Discharge Representative to begin the process.
